Plantar Fasciitis

plantarPlantar fasciitis is pain and inflammation in the tissue in the bottom of the foot between the toes and heel bone. The pain can come on suddenly as a result of an acute injury, or it can arise over a long period of time due to a variety of causes, including a tight achilles tendon, tight calf muscles, or shoes; that don’t give support while running or walking. Plantar fasciitis can be treated with a combination of over-the-counter pain medications, rest, stretching exercises, and orthotics. A podiatrist can recommend a course of treatment that is usually effective without resorting to surgery.
